"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do"
~ Ephesians 2:10:
Daily Bible Verse
For the Homosexual
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. ~ 1 Corinthians 6:9-11
I understand that many people question why God does not allow homosexuals into Heaven, often asking, “If God is a loving God, why is He against same-sex love?”
Before addressing this, it’s important to recognize that many self-righteous Christians have inflicted harm on homosexual individuals, wrongly suggesting that homosexuality is the gravest of sins. However, the Bible does state: “Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”
1 Timothy also teaches that God's law identifies sexual immorality, including homosexuality, along with other sins such as enslavement, lying, and perjury, as disobedience to sound doctrine.
Let me be clear: homosexuality is a sin, just like lying, stealing, coveting, drunkenness, slander, adultery, and anything else contrary to sound doctrine. The truth is, we could all find ourselves on this list, so let us not act superior, as if homosexuality is somehow beneath us as Christians. But it is a sin according to God whether we agree or not.
Rather than focusing on whether those who practice homosexuality will enter Heaven, which the Bible clearly addresses, a more pressing question is: Why does God consider it a sin?
The answer lies in God’s design: He intended that a man be with a woman. Marriage reflects the Christian’s relationship with Jesus, similar to how a branch is connected to the vine. The loving relationship between a man and a woman mirrors our relationship with Christ—characterized by love, submission, sacrifice, and surrender. This union can produce the fruits of love and children, just as our relationship with Christ bears the fruit of His Spirit.
Adultery
Consider this: If my wife asked me to allow her to be with another man because she loved him, I would not view that as honorable. I wouldn’t expect her to allow me to do the same. Even if I argued that true love should permit it, neither of us would agree to such a situation. To maintain a healthy and intact relationship, we must resist the temptation of adultery.
It’s challenging, but we must trust that God, who is love, right, and true, has valid reasons for His commands. If homosexuality is akin to adultery in God’s eyes, then resisting such temptations is crucial for honoring His design and my relationship.
I know this may not simplify things, and I understand the struggle. As a Christian, I know that while all things may be lawful, not everything is beneficial, and I should be governed only by God (1 Corinthians 6:12). There are times when I desire to do things that aren’t sinful in themselves, like attending an event or watching a movie, but if God convicts my conscience not to do them, I know He has His reasons. Even if I don’t understand the specifics, I trust that His guidance is always for my good, His purpose, and His glory. Thus, if I love Him, I must resist the temptation to act against Him.
Isn’t this the real question we face? It’s akin to the question Adam and Eve asked: Why does God get to set the rules? The Bible tells us that God is love and truth; to go against Him is to go against both. It’s like insisting that 2 plus 2 equals five—no matter how much we argue, it’s incorrect. Just as math dictates that 2 plus 2 equals 4, God's design specifies that a man should be with a woman.
One day, God’s kingdom will be a place of love, truth, and peace, free from tears, hurt, and pain. It will be so because those in Heaven trusted God, ceased living for themselves, and lived for His glory. They now exist in perfect unity—together, one mind, one heart, one God.
As a Christian, to say that being gay is acceptable would mean contradicting what I believe to be God's truth, potentially leading others astray. While I might be wrong in my interpretation, if I genuinely believe this is what Scripture teaches, it would be unloving of me to say otherwise. Would you prefer I tell you what you want to hear instead? Sorry, I want to be truthful because I desire to see us all in Heaven.
