Who is God?
So, Who Is God?
What I know about God is limited. How can we describe someone who transcends words, defying any attempt to capture His essence? How do you explain perfection when, as humans, we've never fully experienced it? God has always existed and always will. He knows everything, is always right, and never wrong. He is so far beyond our finite minds that we can never fully comprehend who He is. How do you describe a God who speaks creation into existence, to whom the waters, sky, and sun respond? How do you explain a God who is spirit, yet three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit?
God is omnipotent—He possesses unlimited power without limitation; omnipresent—He exists everywhere at once, yet remains distinct from the universe; and omniscient—He knows all, including the past and future. This description is only a glimpse, reminding us that we cannot fully grasp His nature. These qualities define a being beyond all comprehension, existing in ways that surpass human understanding.
God is the origin of all love, truth, and everything that exists. All creation exists for His purposes. To oppose God is to embrace error, like claiming 2 + 2 equals 5. God must be perfect in every sense, capable of all things except contradicting His own nature. Only a perfect God could create as He wills and sustain life for eternity.
God provided the clearest description of Himself in the Hebrew Bible when He said to Moses, "I am who I am" (Exodus 3:14). With these words, He revealed that His nature cannot be fully explained or understood. To describe Himself in detail would take more than a lifetime and be beyond human comprehension. If you truly want to know who God is, it must come through a personal relationship with Him.
The truth is, without a relationship with God, you have not experienced true love, truth, or peace. Your depth of connection to God determines how fully you understand and experience these things. The farther you are from Him, the less you grasp the fullness of love, truth, and peace. Only when you encounter the truth can you truly know it.
In my own relationship with God, I’ve realized that I didn’t truly understand love, truth, or peace. What I once believed to be real were just false perceptions, shaped by my limited and broken self. I was so far from the truth, but God revealed reality to me. I thought I understood something, but my knowledge was as small as a few feet, while God’s is boundless, measured by infinity. I had been looking through the eye of a needle, while God sees the entire picture. I’m still learning how vast and incredible He is, and I know I’ve only scratched the surface. Every day, God shows me more of His greatness.
So, Who Is God?
To truly begin to understand God, you must encounter Him personally. True knowledge of God comes through relationship. The best way I can help is by sharing His ways, plans, and purposes, which I will do in the section titled God's Ways.
Remember, the answer to everything is found in God. He is the well of truth, love, and knowledge, the standard by which we should measure ourselves.
