"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."

– Jeremiah 29:11

The Beginnings
God's Plan and Desire

God's plan is to create a perfect family, with Jesus as the vine and His creation as the branches. Yet, in His wisdom, God chose to give us the gift of free choice. He wanted us to choose to be a part of His family, not out of compulsion, deceit, or manipulation, but out of love and a willing heart.

God, in His infinite wisdom, knew that Satan would rebel and that humanity would follow his lead. Yet, He allowed this rebellion to unfold as a means of granting us true free will. Satan opened the door to darkness, where evil resides. The reason I emphasize "free choice" is because our wills are bound to choose either darkness or light—there is no middle ground. We cannot truly submit our wills to ourselves because we are not designed to exist independently. In the end, we are either joining God's family or following Satan's path.

Satan believed he could live independently of God, a desire that resonates within us, His creation. Although God gifted us with the ability to think and love, our limited understanding and capacity mean we cannot do so rightly on our own. At our core, we are children who desperately need our Father’s nurturing guidance and instruction to navigate life and relationships as they were meant to be. Without the Father’s love, we risk losing ourselves, becoming hollow, and endlessly searching for someone or something to fill the void we cannot fill on our own.

God's plan allowed us to exist apart from Him, with the hope that we would come to recognize the emptiness within us—the deep discontent of our souls—comes from being separated from our Father and our true home. Everything God has created—the earth, the angels who serve Him, and all of creation—exists as part of His effort to rescue us, His most cherished creation. In His grace, He designed this temporary world to help us realize our true family, mature in understanding, and ultimately find our way back to Him.

"Those who believe in Jesus' name are given the right to become children of God. "
