" “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. "

– John 15:5

The Truth of Life
Misguided Perfection

Many struggle to believe in God's perfection—or even the concept of perfection—because they’ve never encountered it on this side of Heaven. Yet, countless people tirelessly pursue perfection within themselves. This paradox is telling: we seem to accept perfection only when it’s our own. But when perfection belongs to another, especially to God, we resist it.

The reason we reject perfection outside of ourselves reveals our inherent selfishness. Standing before true perfection would expose our flaws, stripping away any pretense or justification for our actions. It would shatter our illusions of self-sufficiency, leaving us humbled and undone.

If we crave perfection only for ourselves, it’s no wonder we resist a perfect God. His light exposes our sins and imperfections, revealing how small and inadequate our words, actions, and ideas are when measured against the infinite wisdom and power that sustains all creation.

God is perfect, and we cannot be. Our only hope lies in joining Him, becoming part of His perfection. Perhaps our relentless pursuit of perfection is, at its heart, a longing for God. Yet, instead of recognizing this, we often seek to establish our own perfection, echoing Satan’s desire to be his own god. True freedom comes not from achieving perfection ourselves, but from surrendering to the One who is perfect and inviting Him to make us whole.

"It’s like taking credit for the air that sustains us, claiming glory that isn’t ours,
and leading others to believe they need us just to breathe."
