The Door of Christianity
Entering the door of Salvation
The Christian Life
In the United States, approximately 62% of adults identify as Christian, according to the Pew Research Center—a noticeable decline from 78% in 2007. Yet with more than half the nation professing faith in Christ, one can’t help but wonder: Why is there so little light and salt in the world? Why are so few truly Christ-like?
The Christian life is far from easy. Anyone who claims otherwise is either misinformed or hasn’t grasped the depth of the faith. Following Jesus means battling our own sinful nature, resisting the schemes of Satan, standing against the values of this world, confronting the enemies of God, and—sadly—enduring wounds from fellow believers. At times, it feels lonely, overwhelming, and even impossible.
Yet despite its challenges, Christianity is the only path to true life and the gateway to eternal glory. It’s a steep, uphill climb, marked by struggles, slips, failures, and suffering. But we persevere—sustained by the unshakable hope of the treasure we have in Jesus and the eternal joy of His kingdom.
Sadly, many today—believers included—have redefined Christianity into something unrecognizable from its biblical roots. Both genuine followers and nominal Christians often present a distorted image of the faith—one that is shallow, worldly, and misleading. We’ve lost sight of our calling: to turn away from the world, follow Jesus wholeheartedly, and never look back. The result? Christianity appears confusing, unattractive, and far too easy.
It has become difficult to distinguish a believer from a non-believer. This is a serious problem for three reasons: first, we are failing to answer Christ’s call to be light and salt in the world; second, we are missing out on the fullness of a relationship with Him; and third, we may be deceiving ourselves into thinking we are saved when we are not.
In this section, I aim to rediscover “True Christianity”—the life-transforming journey God always intended. It is a path of deep devotion, radical obedience, and steadfast love for Christ, far removed from the watered-down version so often seen today.
"You are the salt of the earth… You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden… let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." ~ Matthew 5:13–16
